Can I enter on the day?

No, it’s not possible to enter on the day. The race is full for this year and we are not taking any more entries.

I cannot run, can I transfer my entry to someone else?

Unfortunately, with a few days to go before the event we cannot transfer numbers at this late stage.

Where do I collect my chip and number from?

All race numbers and timing chips will be given out on the day of the race. Race HQ is inside the Arboretum building, just follow the signs.

What footwear would be appropriate?

The multi-terrain route can get muddy, slippery and uneven in places. You may feel it more appropriate to wear trail or off-road shoes dependent on conditions. For a more in-depth course description, visit our race details page.

Is the course traffic free?

The course is mainly traffic free. However, there is a small stretch of the route that is not. We ask all participants to exercise caution around moving vehicles and listen to marshals instructions.

Are there showering facilities?

We are sorry but we are unable to offer showers at the venue.

Is the race suitable for beginners?

The Woodland Challenge is indeed a challenge. Whilst we encourage runners of all abilities, please bear in mind that this is not a flat road race!

What is the minimum age requirement?

The minimum age limit is 16 years of age on the day of the race. However, there is an all age fun run suitable for all the family prior to the main event – visit our fun run page for more information.

Is there somewhere I can safely leave a bag?

Yes, we have a secure left luggage facility that is free of charge.

Are there refreshments available?

Yes, there will be tea, coffee, a licensed bar plus hot food for sale before and after the race.

Is there a team prize this year?

Yes! So encourage your friends and club members to enter as soon as possible.

Is the course suitable for wheelchair users?

We are sorry but the course is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Can anyone enter the fun run?

Yes, we actively encourage all ages – this is a family event and you can run, jog or walk the course. You don’t have to have children to enter the fun run. The emphasis is on taking part and having fun.

How do I find out the results of the race?

Race results will be posted in Race HQ as soon as possible after the race. Full results will also be available on this website. Also your result can be texted to your mobile phone – please make sure you have filled in your mobile number on the application form.

How do I know if my entry has been accepted?

If you have entered online then you'll receive a confirmation email. If you entered by post and gave us a valid email address or enclosed a SSAE then we'll contact you either by email or post. If you entered by post and didn't include email address or SSAE then we will try and contact you by telephone or SMS. If you are in any doubt, you can always contact us.

Are the results calculated using Chip time or Gun time?

In accordance with standard race practice, the results and finishing positions are calculated using gun time.

When is the closing date for entries?

Entries close on Friday 10th October 2008.
